Mr Simon Jones
Simon has worked in Education for over 29 years in Stoke-on-Trent, and his leadership journey has taken him from science teacher, Subject Leader, Head of Sixth Form, Assistant Head Teacher, and Deputy Head Teacher to leading two highly successful Teaching School Alliances in the city, in outstanding schools including within The Newman Catholic Collegiate. Simon’s NPQH focused on devising monitoring and evaluation models in schools, developing the roles of senior and middle leaders in conducting impactful department reviews and facilitating good practice. Simon has worked with over 23 schools to develop the talents and leadership of staff at all levels, including designating and deploying a large team of Specialist Leaders of Education to bring about school improvement, many of whom have led Local authority subject networks and have progressed to senior leadership level. A specialist in ITT and succession planning, Simon set up a successful and highly regarded SCITT, training over 100 new entrants to our profession across the city, has developed coaching and mentoring models to bring out the best in colleagues, and has led numerous school improvement projects to enable leaders to make impact in their teams. His career has been varied and rewarding and he says ‘It’s a privilege to work with so many committed professionals who make a difference to our young people every day’.
